As expected, the ongoing Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 8, All Stars powered by Moniepoint as headline sponsor and Tecno Mobile as category sponsor, has begun to unfold why it’s a must watch show. The simmering tension over food consumption and distribution is becoming the battleground for dramatic conflict in the All Stars house.
The recent flare-up of the food wars came to a head during a heated discussion among the housemates, where grievances over the distribution of food supplies were shared. Cross was one of the first to vocalise his concerns about the growing divide between those who stake the minimum from their Moniepoint stash and those who indulge in hearty portions.
He expressed frustration that some housemates were seemingly taking advantage of the limited food resources while contributing minimally to the Moniepoint coins collection.
The current HoH, Ike, found himself at the centre of a clash over sausages. CeeC’s attempt to remove sausages from the fridge sparked a confrontation with Ike, who vehemently opposed the move, insisting that the sausages would not spoil.
This exchange highlighted the escalating tensions surrounding food consumption and management in the house at the moment, with Ike’s stubborn stance drawing criticism from fellow housemates, including Mercy Eke and Venita.
Ike’s attitude and actions amid the food wars have drawn both concern and speculation from his BFFs, who on Wednesday morning encouraged him to take two loaves of bread down and make sure that people can see this.
Rejecting requests to store food and displaying a lack of empathy, Ike’s behaviour has raised questions about the potential impact on his gameplay and relationships within the house by Venita.
His refusal to accommodate reasonable requests, such as Venita’s plea to store Adekunle’s tray of eggs in the HoH quarters, has further intensified the friction among the housemates. The morning after (Thursday), the heated confrontation was still a hot topic.
Whitemoney’s accidental cracking of four eggs became a symbolic act that resonated with the escalating food wars. To add a touch of humour to the situation, he composed a song about the incident, which added a lighthearted element amidst the growing turmoil.
To manage the situation, Frodd, perhaps sensing the need for order, took on the role of the self-appointed food manager. He vigilantly monitored the allocation of eggs for breakfast, following Angel’s request that people limit egg consumption to two eggs.
Meanwhile, Adekunle was spotted hiding something on top of the fridge. The question is: “Will housemates start hoarding food, or will the current HoH ensure that food is managed efficiently?”
Speaking on their sponsorship of the show, Tecno Mobile Marketing Manager, Thompson Ani said, “As a brand committed to supporting and empowering the dreams of young Nigerians, Tecno is proud to be part of the Big Brother Naija sponsorship.”
“This strategic partnership aligns with our mission to stop at nothing in fostering opportunities and inspiring the next generation of talents. Being associated with BBN provides a platform for us to connect with millions of viewers, and we are thrilled to witness the journey of these extraordinary individuals as they chase their dreams and create a lasting impact on society,” he added
The Unending Gbas Gbos
Meanwhile, the expected drama cum fight associated with the show is daily seen as some housemates who cannot hold their emotions often went into overdrive. From last week to this week, some housemates have gone down each other’s throats, as the pressure of the task presentation is beginning to take toll on them.
For this week’s wager task presentation, Biggie tasked the All Stars to create a Nollywood-inspired film, which proved difficult not because they lack expertise but because everyone wants a say.
The housemates received the equipment to shoot the movie on Wednesday night. Head of House, Ike on Thursday morning after the walkout and chores gathered the housemates in the lounge for rehearsals
Things were going well; housemates wore their costumes, and the crew started taking charge, but chaos began when Venita had a minor argument with Pere over a red cap he wanted Kiddwaya to wear.
Pere had wished to switch the accessories that had already been assigned to the housemates, and this didn’t go down well with Venita, as she excused herself from the situation, and emotions were rising instead of the rehearsals continuing.
Adekunle, who initially tried to calm the situation, lost his temper at Pere. The duo engaged in a war of words which led to Adekunle wanting to leave the set to discuss with an already upset Kiddwaya, and Pere commanding him to sit.
Normalcy returned and the housemates continued with their rehearsal. However, after a few minutes of practice, another argument ensued between Angel and CeeC, as both female housemates engaged themselves in a war of words.
Angel wanted to direct and shoot a particular scene, but CeeC and Frodd had a different view on how she should proceed, which let all hell break loose. Soma, in defense of her new found boo in the house, Angel, confronted CeeC. Thanks to Seyi, who as a peacemaker, appealed to Angel in the garden.
Not buying Seyi’s plea for peace, a furious Angel still confronted CeeC and Frodd. She had lost sleep working on the script and could not fathom CeeC trying to tell her how to direct the script she wrote.
Ceec did not respond to her rant, as she chatted with Pere. She expressed disappointment in Angel not being unable to complete the task. “I’m only being patient with her because she is her ‘person,” she said.
Earlier, the camel’s eye was broken after the housemates had their first ever task announced to them on Tuesday, July 25 during their meeting in the morning. CeeC and Alex, both from Season 3 Double Wahala rekindled their rivalry as they clashed during a bitter quarrel on Wednesday, July 26.
Alex had accused CeeC and Uriel of sabotage following their nonchalant participation in the task preparation. This didn’t sit well with CeeC as she engaged Alex in a shouting match. Both threw caution to the wind, as they ridiculed, insulted and called each other names during the bout.
Just when it seemed like all had been settled, another battle soon ensued, this time between Doyin, Ilebaye, and Uriel, also because of the wager task. The housemates had been woken up by Adekunle, who then was Head of House for another set of rehearsals.
Doyin and Illebaye no doubt were feeling groggy and on edge. Uriel was not happy that Illebaye had laughed at Doyin’s highlight of the season, which immediately threw the house into chaos as voices were raised.
Apparently, Uriel had worked on Doyin’s highlights, so she felt undermined and found Illebaye’s actions annoying. The housemates battled to keep order, and eventually, Angel stepped in and hugged Uriel, imploring her to let it go so rehearsals could continue.
Another round of gbas gbos ensued after Biggie had asked the victorious teams for the task to select their winnings which were 10 non-transferrable gold tokens that they had to split amongst themselves.
Suddenly there was a rift between the Mavericks, as the six-member team experienced a few difficulties with splitting their tokens equally among themselves.Venita suggested that Illebaye receive the least of the spoils because according to her, she put in the least work in comparison to the rest of her team members.
Illebaye objected to this as she felt Venita’s comment was harsh and unfair. After an intervention from the rest of the team, Ilebaye was forced to give in and she eventually agreed to Venita’s suggestion, much to her disappointment.
