BAYELSA: Police arrest eight for ‘terrorising’ community, recover arms

THE Police Strike Force has detained eight people for allegedly terrorizing the Nembe Bassambiri village in Bayelsa State with dangerous weapons.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, said in a statement yesterday that the operation was prompted by a petition from a legal firm regarding the conduct of some “hoodlums.”

According to Adejobi, the petition, as well as other comparable complaints and intelligence in that location, identified criminal individuals equipped with guns and other dangerous weapons who were terrorizing community residents.

The Police Strike Force was reportedly dispatched to the area on Friday for a combing operation to cleanse the community of armed hoodlums’ activities.

The eight suspects arrested were identified as Gift Vanman, Daniel Solomon, Ishmael Teknikio aka Moore, Rufus Itario, Joel Jubilee, Sylvanus Alatari, Sounpre Solomon, and Ayebanate Talbot (POS).

Items recovered include three AK-47 rifles, two pump action guns, one LAR rifle, one jack-knife, one dagger, magazines, 104 rounds of live ammunition of various calibres, two POS machines, 10 ATM Cards, and one rechargeable bulb.
