THE scheduled arraignment of suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele today over an alleged N6.9 billion procurement scam has been postponed once more.
The case was not published on the cause list of a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja today with no explanation given as both parties’ lawyers were absent.
The suspended CBN governor was slated to be arraigned last Thursday, but the arraignment was postponed due to the absence of the second defendant, who was alleged to be ill.
Although Emefiele (the first defendant) was present in court, the second defendant, Sa’adatu Yaro, a female CBN employee, was not.
Following an adjournment request, the Presiding Judge, Justice Hamza Muazu, adjourned the case for August 23, 2023.
