Man City linked with £70m Eberechi Eze move

MANCHESTER City are reportedly eyeing Eberechi Eze as an alternative after a bid to sign West Ham United’s Lucas Paqueta failed.

Eze, born in England to Nigerian parents, had an impressive campaign with Crystal Palace last season and has caught the attention of the Treble winners.

According to Daily Mail, the 25-year-old midfielder has been a subject of interest for City for the last six months after senior scouts were left impressed by his control of games for Palace.

City, who won the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and FA Cup Treble last season, are believed to be looking for a midfielder following the betting allegations against Brazilian Paqueta, who had been ready to leave West Ham United for around £85 million.

Eze, who was heavily courted by the Nigeria Football Federation but made his first England appearance in June, has been attracting interest from across the Premier League following two outstanding seasons at Selhurst Park.

Palace will reportedly demand over £70m from Manchester City or any suitors for the skillful midfielder, with the transfer window set to end next week.

Eze joined Palace from Queens Park Rangers in August 2020 for around £15m and has made 95 appearances for the Eagles, with 15 goals and 11 assists.

He has two years remaining on his current contract.

City, who lost Ilkay Gundogan to Barcelona and Kevin De Bruyne to a long-term injury, could tempt Palace with a big offer for their chief creative force.
