BENDEL Insurance have battled past Algeria’s ASO Chlef on penalties to advance in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Nigerian representatives lost 1-0 tonight at the Salem Stadium, Rouiba, Algiers in the second leg of their preliminary round tie but progressed 4-3 on penalties.
Insurance had won the first leg 1-0 in Benin City last week and the tie was level 1-1 on aggregate at full-time.
The game went straight to penalties and Bendel Insurance converted four of their kicks while the hosts scored only three out of five.
Bendel Insurance have proceeded to the second preliminary round of the competition, where they will face RS Berkane
The Moroccan club are the defending champions, who also won the trophy in 2020.
