‘Your presence exudes charm, a timeless grace/ A symbol of poise, in life’s wondrous race/ Kayode, you’ve walked with dignity and pride,/ In your steps, so many have found a guide/ Your wisdom and kindness have touched our hearts/ In your friendship, we’ve found our missing parts/ As the candles flicker, let your spirit glow/ In the warmth of your smile, let the love flow’
WRITER, businessman, art patron, and former chairman of Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA, was 73 on Wednesday, August 23. He was away on vacation from his hometurf, Lagos, where his presence looms illustrious in the circle of creative artists to whom he is a constant source of motivation and consistent support, hence he escaped being drenched in a torrent of tributes and honour often expressed in music, poetry, drama, and dance skits as it was wont to be.
However, even at his vacation spot in London, his family ambushed him with a “quiet dinner” that was, however, loud enough to ricochet on the home turf, where an even greater celebration awaits the distinguished patron of art in its varied strains.
In commemoration of the event, the Committee for Relevant Art, CORA to which he is Chairman of the Board of Trustees, wrote:
Celebration note to our own UncleK…
A hearty Good Wishes to our Distinguished Chairman, Chief Kayode Aderinokun aka “Sailor”
Though belated, the CORA Board and Collective extend felicitation to you on occasion of your 73rd birthday on August 23.
We appreciate you for all the Goodness, Kindness, Sweetness and Happiness that you always bring to our family and operations.
We pray that you continue to flourish in divine Favour and Honour with abundant Mercy, Grace and Blessings.
We pray for your Good Health and protection of your family at all times.
Enjoy your season of Birth, Sir.
The CORA also indicates that Aderinokun will be further celebrated at the 25th edition of its annual Lagos Book & Art Festival, LABAF, the “Campaign for Literary and Human Capital Development” project, dubbed as the ‘Feast of Ideas and Life’ – slated for November 13-19.
BUT even in his location on the day of his birth, an inspiring note of celebration was extended to him from his other constituency, where he has been a leader and key resource person for decades.
Rotarian Uluma Okorie serenaded Aderiokun with the moving lines below:
…Symbol of poise, in life’s wondrous race
IN honor of @Kayode Aderinokun ‘s special day,
We gather ’round with joy, in a celebratory display.
A distinguished gentleman, so refined and wise,

In your steps, so many have found a guide.

With years that add grace to your evergreen soul,
You’ve achieved much, and you’ve played a great role.
So, here’s to you, on this special day’s hour,
A distinguished gentleman, we deeply empower.
Happy Birthday, Aderinokun Kayode, so dear,

In celebration, we stand by your side.
Happy birthday Sir
