Carabao Cup draw held as Chelsea, Everton advance to third round

THE draw for the 2023/2024 Carabao Cup was held tonight moments after Premier League sides Chelsea, Everton and Burnley progressed through to the third round.

Chelsea came from behind to defeat fourth-tier AFC Wimbledon 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, with goals from Noni Madueke and substitute Enzo Fernandez.

The Blues will host Brighton in an all-Premier League in late September.

Everton also avoided an upset after recovering from a goal down to win 2-1 at lower league side Doncaster Rovers, with their new strikers Beto and Arnaut Danjuma netting in the second half.

The Toffees will travel to Aston Villa in another all-Premier League tie while Burnley, who edged past Nottingham Forest 1-0 tonight, will be away to fourth-tier Salford City, who saw off Leeds United.
