Man United rule out injured Varane from Arsenal clash

Manchester United have confirmed that their centre-back Raphael Varane is injured and will not feature in the Premier League clash against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

“Raphael Varane will be missing from the team when Manchester United face Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday due to injury,” the club announced on their official website today.

“The France international came off at half-time in our 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Saturday due to the complaint, which is expected to keep him out for a few weeks.

“Erik ten Hag may provide an update on team news during the pre-match press conference on Friday.”

Varane, 30, is expected to be out for up to six weeks, joining Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, Kobbie Mainoo and Tyler Malacia on the sidelines just three weeks into the season

The centre-back’s absence has made a tough trip even more daunting for United, who have not won at Arsenal on their last five Premier League visits.

At their last Emirates Stadium fixture last season, Arsenal scored a 90th minute goal to win 3-2.
