Alex Iwobi vows to ‘step up’ to higher demands at Fulham

ALEX Iwobi has confidence in his ability to thrive at Fulham where he is gearing up for greater expectations.

The Super Eagles midfielder completed a £22 million move to the London club from Premier League rivals Everton on Friday night, the deadline day for this summer’s transfers across Europe.

The 27-year-old was one of Everton’s most important players before the move and he believes he will need to keep up his performances and even improve at his new club.

While Everton toyed with relegation in each of the last two seasons, Fulham had an impressive campaign last term and finished 10th, seven places above the Toffees.

Marcos Silva’s side are aiming even higher this season, and Iwobi says he will excel despite the pressure.

“My career is a wonderful learning experience,” the former Arsenal star wrote in a farewell statement to Everton fans.

“Right now it’s time for a change to climb the ladder and challenge myself to step up, to better myself and those around me.

“The demands and pressure will be higher but I welcome it and back myself to step up.”

Iwobi joined Everton from Arsenal in August 2019 and made 140 appearances for the Toffees, registering nine goals and 16 assists.
