A builder, Chizoba Aniefuna, and his two sons died when a storey building under construction collapsed on them in Nnewi.
The incident happened around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday. While residents declined comments on the incident, the Chairman of the Anambra State Council for Regulation of Engineering of Nigeria, COREN, Victor Meju, who supervised the evacuation of the three victims, described it as unfortunate.
According to him, the late builder was not a certified engineer and the materials used for the structure were all substandard.
He said the late builder, his sons, and his cousin were building the structure on a night and day basis.
The cousin was lucky to be rescued on time and take. But the builder’s body and that of his sons were buried in the rubble and needed an excavator to be brought.
