Two dead, one injured in Lagos-Ibadan expressway crash

AN accident involving a Mazda bus and a Mazda automobile along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway at Ayedere has claimed the lives of two individuals while injuring one.

Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesman for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, confirmed the incident to reporters in Abeokuta.

According to Akinbiyi, the accident happened about 7:10 a.m. in the state’s Ewekoro Local Government Area’s Ayedere village.

He stated that the unregistered Mazda car’s driver went against the flow of traffic, colliding head-on with the Mazda bus bearing the license plate SEY 311 ZY.

A motor boy with the bus was injured, while the drivers of the other two cars died.

According to Akinbiyi, who also said that the car’s driver had been carried away by his family for burial before newsmen arrived, the injured motor boy had been saved and transferred to a local hospital.

According to him, the bus driver was deposited at the morgue of the Ifo General Hospital.

“The unregistered Mazda car, driving in a direction prohibited by traffic law, collided with the bus, leaving the drivers of both vehicles dead on the spot due to the impact of the collision.

“The motor boy of the white Mazda bus sustained varying degrees of injuries and has been taken to a private clinic for medical attention,” he said.
