TWO factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) clashed in Abuja today and according to a witness, gunshots were fired.
However, a witness, who requested anonymity, stated that he was unable to determine if the gunshots were fired by police or by union members clashing.
The clash is an escalation of the fight between supporters of NURTW National President Tajudeen Baruwa and supporters of Badru Agbede.
Baruwa requested the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to intervene in order to resolve the situation and return his comrades to the national headquarters, which has been taken over by the police.
As of the time of publication, however, police officials had not to yet commented on the situation.
