As the year gradually gravitate to end, Neo Fest, the highly anticipated inaugural Rhythm & Blues (R&B) and Alté music festival, is set to transform Nigeria’s music scene and fete revellers with over 17 music artistes and 10 disc jockeys (DJs) at its first-ever in Africa festival, which will be held at the picturesque shores of Landmark Beach Lagos on December 22, 2023.
The event is spearheaded by the Neo Music team, a dedicated group of black women who share a passion for music and a vision for a more inclusive entertainment industry. They are joined by an external team of equally talented female executives from Q21 Solutions, Titanium Productions, and My blaqbook, all set to play a pivotal moment in the music industry’s history.
Speaking about the event, the founder of Neo Music, Penny Akinde, said the festival is not just a celebration of music but a statement of diversity, empowerment, unity, culture, and creativity like never before.
She added that what also set the festival apart is the recent unveiling of the all-female team organisers, including an impressive roster of black female performers and mix maestros from across the world, as the event promises an unforgettable experience that will resonate with fans beyond the entertainment scene, while expanding opportunities for women in the genre and by extension the music industry.
“We are thrilled that Nigeria will host our first-ever and biggest R&B and alte music festival in Africa, but it is also crucial for us to showcase a platform that empowers women. Our partnership with female-led businesses to showcase their creativity and enterprise at the festival is a testament to our commitment to creating opportunities. Together, we will redefine what’s possible in the entertainment industry and show that incredible things can happen when women support each other,” Akinde said.
She averred that in addition to the stellar musical performances, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in workshops hosted by accomplished black women in the music industry, providing invaluable insights on succeeding in this competitive field.
“Prepare to be captivated by the soulful rhythms of R&B and the vibrant vibes of Alté at Neo Fest on December 22, 2023. This festival is not just a celebration of music but a powerful statement of empowerment, unity, and a day of music, culture, and creativity like never before. Take your chance to be part of history,” the entertainment chieftain enthused.
She noted that with line up of artistes from within and outside the country, the festival’s dedication to promoting diversity and inclusivity in the music industry is at the core of its mission, paving the way for a more vibrant and inclusive future for Lagos’s music culture, which is to create a more vibrant and all-encompassing future for both the creators and the enthusiasts.
