OGUN: Robbers invade varsity hostel, rape students

SOME suspected armed robbers have raped four female students of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State after invading their hostel.

It was gathered that the criminals in the early hours of Tuesday invaded hostels at Abapawa – an area of the campus housing the students – and perpetrated the act.

This development was said to have raised an uproar among students before the intervention of security operatives.

Reacting to the incident, the state Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyede, while on the visit to the area alongside the Commissioner of Police, Alamutu Abiodun, and Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Prof Abayomi Arigbabu promised that perpetrators would be brought to book.

She also paid a visit to the victims where she ordered that they be moved to the state-owned  Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu for proper medical attention

“Earlier today (Tuesday), after receiving the distressing news about an armed robbery at some TASUED hostels and the brutal rape of four female students, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun directed me to immediately visit the victims and the campus on a fact-finding mission and to pledge the government’s support in ensuring this doesn’t happen again,” she said.
