Edo Sports Commission boss Alli congratulates Erhunmunse on FA election win

THE chairman, Edo State Sports Commission, Yusuf Alli, has congratulated Fred Newton Erhunmunse on his victory at the election to emerge as the Chairman of the Edo State Football Association.

The Edo Sports Commission boss described Erhunmeunsee’s victory as one ordained by God and wished him a successful tenure.

In a statement on Monday, former Olympic long jumper Alli congratulated the new FA helmsman and other elected board members and described the outcome of the election as the wish of the majority of members of the association and other football stakeholders in the state.

He advised the new EFA boss not to betray the trust and confidence reposed in him, adding that the electorate believed in Erhunmwunsee’s ability to steer Edo FA towards greater heights.

“I congratulate you and your executive. Your election is a well deserved one and it is in recognition of your hard work, dedication and commitment to football development in the state,” former African long jump record holder Alli, who still holds the Nigeria record of 8.27 metres, said.

“I urge you and the new board members to bring your wealth of experience to bear in the development of football at both grassroots and professional levels in the state as you put your hands on the plough.

“Now that electioneering is over, it is time to work. We expect you and all stakeholders to put all that happened during campaigns behind and begin to contribute towards making Edo State football thrive.”
