THE Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) suffered its first casualties today, when four members of the state assembly were suspended following a clash with those loyal to Governor Hyacinth Alia.
The four lawmakers were suspended for alleged plenary sabotage.
The suspension of the four members, Cephas Dyako, Gyila Solomon, Akya Douglas, and Anthony Agom, came shortly after elders of the party met at Government House to pass a vote of confidence in the governor, who has been opposed by both the state working committee and the local government chapters.
A few moments before the lawmakers were suspended for allegedly disrupting today’s session, the APC elders, led by former Senate President Ameh Ebute, and many others, asked for an emergency stakeholders’ meeting to discuss all internal concerns.
Recall that since June 2023, the APC leadership in Benue and the governor have been at odds over the power-sharing formula.
