Chelsea part ways with coach Mauricio Pochettino

MAURICIO Pochettino’s spell as the manager of Chelsea has ended after only one season in charge.

The English Premier League club announced tonight that the Argentinian has left the post by mutual consent.

“Chelsea FC can confirm that the Club and Mauricio Pochettino have mutually agreed to part ways,” the club said in a tense statement on their official website.

Sporting Directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said: “On behalf of everyone at Chelsea, we would like to express our gratitude to Mauricio for his service this season. He will be welcome back to Stamford Bridge any time and we wish him all the very best in his future coaching career.”

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain head coach Pochettino had a rough start at Chelsea after joining them last summer but he finished the season strong, leading them to the Carabao Cup final and sixth place in the Premier League, which translates to a spot in Europe for next season.

“Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and Sporting Directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club’s history,” Pochettino said.

“The club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come.”

Jesus Perez, Miguel d’Agostino, Toni Jimenez and Sebastiano Pochettino have also left Chelsea with Mauricio.
