ONDO: Witness collapses, dies inside court

A man who is yet to be identified died inside an Ondo State High Court in Oka, in the South-West state’s Ondo West LGA.

The man, who is in his seventies was said to have slumped and died before the court hearings could begin.

Witnesses stated that the deceased went there to testify as a witness in a case involving his friend.

A court employee who witnessed the incident stated that the septuagenarian slumped unexpectedly with no apparent interaction or impact with anyone or anything.

He said, “The man was in court with his friend and suddenly, he stood up where he was seated and fell down, hitting his head on the tiles.

“He didn’t look like someone who was sick and he did not collide with anything or anybody that we may say is the cause of his death.”

When contacted, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, stated that the incident had not been reported to the police.
