Sanwo-Olu emerges as chairman of South-West Govs’ Forum

THE Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has emerged as the South-West Governors Forum’s Chairman.

This is coming eight months after the demise of the former governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu who served as the former chairman.

Governor Sanwo-Olu briefed reporters at the Lagos House in Alausa after nearly four hours of closed-door meetings, saying the decision was unanimous among the six governors present.

He noted that the South-West Governors’ Forum opposed the Yoruba Nation’s agitation and assured Nigerians that the new minimum wage announced by the Federal Government will reflect true federalism.

The South-West Governors’ Forum reaffirmed its support for state police, chose Ise Wa Fun Ile Wa as its anthem, and encouraged President Bola Tinubu to expedite action on the rehabilitation of all federal roads across the country.

He commended federal lawmakers for their work on the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission bill, which aims to boost economic growth and food security across states, and urged its swift passage.

Those in attendance include: Governors Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Senator Ademola Adeleke of Osun, and Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti.
