Gov Eno sacks commissioner for special duties

THE Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, yesterday fired the Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr Bassey Okon.

A statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Enobong Uwah, did not give reasons for relieving the commissioner of his appointment, it rather, directed Okon to hand over all property of government in his position, to the permanent secretary in the ministry.

Uwah stated that the secretary to the state government will manage the ministry’s affairs until a new commissioner is appointed.

The statement congratulated the commissioner for his service on the state executive council and wished him success in his future pursuits.

“In an ongoing effort to reposition this administration in line with the ARISE Agenda, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Umo Eno, has relieved Dr Bassey Okon, Commissioner for Special Duties, as Commissioner in the Akwa Ibom Executive Council with immediate effect,” the statement partly read.
