The Zamfara State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all schools across the state ahead of the protest against economic hardship billed to start on Thursday.
In a circular to principals, head teachers, private schools, and the general public, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education in Zamfara, Barira Bagobiri, noted that the measure was taken to avert any security threat that may befall students.
She added that the suspension of the ongoing JLC examination and a new date for its continuation will be announced in due course.
“This is to inform the general public that the Hon. Commissioner of the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mallam Wadatau Madawaki has approved the immediate closure of all schools across the state on the 1st August 2024,” the circular read.
“The measure has been taken to avert any security threat that may befall our students on the way to school due to the planned nationwide protest. Similarly, the ongoing JLC Exams is suspended and a new date for its continuation will be announced in due course.”
