LEBANON: Blinken denies US knowledge or involvement in pager blasts

US Secretary Antony Blinken on Wednesday addressed two significant incidents in the Middle East, denying any US involvement or prior knowledge regarding the recent explosion in Lebanon that resulted in hundreds of Hezbollah members’ pagers detonating.

The blasts, which left 12 dead and over 2,750 injured, have been attributed by Hezbollah to their long-standing adversary, Israel—a key ally of the United States. Blinken firmly dismissed any claims of US complicity in the tragic incident.

During a press conference held in Cairo, Blinken shifted focus to the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, stating that a ceasefire remains the best strategy for achieving stability and mitigating the escalating humanitarian crisis in the region.
