KANO: Gov Yusuf dissolves interim management committees of 44 LGAs

THE Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has dissolved the Interim Management Committees for all 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state.

This decision, effective immediately, was announced during a farewell meeting with the committee members at Africa House, located in Government House, Kano.

A statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, indicated that this dissolution marks the conclusion of the committees’ six-month term, during which they collaborated with the state government to execute grassroots policies and programs.

Governor Yusuf commended the outgoing committee members for their commitment, stating, “Your dedication in managing local governments over the past six months has been noteworthy. You have played an essential role in aiding the state government’s efforts to promote development at the grassroots level.”

He reassured the departing members that they would remain involved, adding, “The state government will continue to value your contributions and include you in future engagements for the benefit of the people of Kano.”

The governor instructed that the management of local government matters be entrusted to the Directors of Personnel Management (DPMs) in each local government. These DPMs will act as overseers until the local government elections, scheduled for October 26, 2024.

Governor Yusuf emphasized the need for transparency and accountability, urging the DPMs to “be open and strictly follow the rules and regulations that guide your conduct as overseers of the local governments.”

This dissolution is coming as Kano gears up for the forthcoming local government election, which is anticipated to usher in newly elected officials to govern at the local level throughout the state.
