You’re on rescue mission, Tinubu tells newly-sworn in ministers

PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has urged the newly-appointed ministers to regard their roles as a commitment to public service.

He made this statement today during a ceremony at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he officially swore in seven ministers to his cabinet.

Tinubu expressed gratitude to the ministers for accepting the call to serve, describing their willingness as a “very serious commitment.”

“This moment is challenging. The current circumstances demand a profound commitment. Your role is to serve, and that is your primary responsibility,” Tinubu stated during the event.

“I truly appreciate that you have taken the oath of office and are prepared to serve your country at a time when we are confronting issues like economic growth and security challenges.

“It is rare to find individuals willing to dedicate their lives, freedoms, and other responsibilities to serve their nation during such difficult times. I am genuinely pleased that you have made this choice and are here today to join a dedicated team of Nigerians who have been tirelessly working since we took on the responsibility of governing this country 17 months ago. You are called to join this team to help rescue our nation.”

The ministers sworn in include Nentawe Yilwatda as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi as Minister of Labour and Employment; and Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

Also sworn in were Jumoke Oduwole (Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment), Idi Mukhtar Maiha (Minister of Livestock Development), Yusuf Abdullahi Ata (Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development), and Suwaiba Said Ahmad as Minister of State for Education.

The swearing-in ceremony occurred weeks after Tinubu nominated them as ministers. Their names were promptly forwarded to the Senate, which screened and confirmed their appointments.

In his cabinet reshuffle, Tinubu also dismissed five ministers and reassigned new portfolios to ten others.
