Journalism in the service of society

1) Introduction

Naija Times Journalism Foundation (NTJF) is the nonprofit arm of Naija
Times Communications Limited, our publishing company and Naija Times
Communications (UK) Limited, our affiliate company in the UK
It is in furtherance of the Statement of Purpose of Naija Times, our online
newspaper (https://ntm.ng)

2) Objectives

2.1. To undertake the continuous education and training of journalists to
uphold the highest standards of ethical journalism
2.2. To identify and support the growth of media-related activities
including development journalism
2.3. To promote transparency and accountability in the public and private
sectors
2.4. To advance the use of journalism to build strong institutions in the
public interest

3) Programmes

As part of our advocacy efforts in line with the objectives of NTJF, we shall adopt and implement the following policies as programmes of the Foundation:
3.1. Organise annual awards in two categories: public service and humanitarian service.
3.2. Organise an annual lecture series
3.3. Host virtual quarterly Naija Times Diaspora Conversations
3.4. Host Town Hall meetings – twice a year
3.5. Launch ‘Proudly Naija’ campaign
3.6. Produce documentaries to amplify our stories and other initiatives

 

4) Special reports and investigative stories

With funding from our strategic partners, NTJF will collaborate with Naija
Times for special reports in the following areas:
4.1 Anti-corruption, good governance and transparency
4.2 Diversity, gender equity and social inclusion
4.3 Protection of democracy and its institutions
4.4 Climate change, urbanisation and the environment
4.5 Clean and renewable energy
4.6 Food security and growing population
4.7 Youth unemployment and social tension
4.8 Education
4.9 Healthcare
4.10 Financial services and technology
