BENDEL Insurance have landed in Jos to face Plateau United in one of the big fixtures of the Nigeria Premier Football League.

The Benin Arsenal flew into the Plateau United capital yesterday for tomorrow’s clash at the New Jos Stadium, billed to kick off at 4pm.

Insurance are currently the only unbeaten side in the NPFL, leading Group A with 25 points from 11 games.

They are putting their record on the line against a Plateau United side desperate to climb back into the top three positions, which would earn them a spot in the play-offs.

Plateau United are fifth at the moment, eight points adrift of Insurance, and a win would propel them into the top three.

However, as they have shown in their first 11 games, Insurance are not intimidated at any league venue and have left every game with at least a point.

The Benin City side were close to losing their remarkable unbeaten status last weekend in Aba against Enyimba, but they scored a late equaliser through the prolific Imade Osehenkhoe to secure a draw.

Insurance are five points clear of second-placed Remo Stars, who host sixth-placed Gombe United on Sunday, while Akwa United welcome Enyimba in a battle for third spot.

In Group B today, joint-leaders Lobi Stars are away to struggling Enugu Rangers, who are seventh in the 10-team pool, while third-placed Abia Warriors are away to Bayelsa in eighth tomorrow.

The league was split into two groups of 10 teams each in order to fit the schedule into an abridged season caused by the long delay between the end of the last campaign and the current one.

The champions will emerge in the play-offs, which will involve the top three clubs from each group.
