IN an unprecedented move, the UEFA Champions League draw was held twice on Monday after errors marred the first one.
The first draw was cancelled after Villarreal were erroneously pitted against Manchester United and the mistake triggered other missteps.
UEFA explained the errors were due to an external server malfunction and did a fresh draw three hours later.
In the redraw, all the initial pairings changed, except for Chelsea versus Lille.
Real Madrid, who had been drawn against Benfica in the cancelled procedure, will now come up against Paris Saint-Germain.
Manchester United, instead of PSG and a Cristiano Ronaldo versus Lionel Messi match-up, got another tough opponent in Atletico Madrid.
Perennial German champions Bayern Munich, who initially drew Atletico Madrid, have been paired against their Austrian neighbours Red Bull Salzburg, who are first-timers to this stage.
Liverpool have gone from RB Salzburg to Italian champions Inter Milan, who were initially supposed to face Ajax.
The Dutch champions will now battle Benfica, while Juventus have gone from Sporting Lisbon to Villarreal.
Manchester City, who were previously drawn against Villarreal will be up against Sporting Lisbon.
The ties are scheduled for February and March.
