Ghana are currently preparing in Austria for their African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying tie against Nigeria.
The Black Galaxies will also play 2022 World Cup hosts Qatar in a friendly tomorrow to prepare for the clash against Nigeria.
The first leg of the CHAN tie is billed for Cape Coast on Sunday, with the return fixture in Abuja on September 3.
The Black Galaxies are on a one-week training camp in the European country to round off their preparations after weeks of training in Ghana.
“We will play the main team of Qatar on Tuesday and we strongly believe that it will be a good test for the team,” Black Galaxies head coach Annor Walker told the Ghana Football Association website.
“My players will learn a lot from that test match. It will put us in a good position for the task ahead.
“We’re happy in Austria and the boys are calm, and the environment is very good for us ahead of such an important match.”
The Ghana Football Association said today that the squad will return home on Thursday, three days before the first leg of the CHAN qualifier.
The team will head straight to Cape Coast to have a feel of the Cape Coast Stadium, which will host the encounter against Ghana’s big rivals.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles B squad began training 12 days ago in Abuja after head coach Salisu Yusuf invited 35 players from the Nigeria Professional Football League.
They have played three friendlies against lower league and amateur clubs in Abuja and will play more before travelling for the first leg.
CHAN is a tournament designed for African national teams with only players featuring in their domestic leagues.
The winners of the tie between Nigeria and Ghana on aggregate will qualify for the 2023 CHAN in Algeria.
Nigeria finished third at the third edition of the competition held in South Africa in 2014 and were runners-up in Morocco four years ago.
The Eagles B however failed to qualify for the last edition of the competition, staged in Cameroon last year.
Ghana are aiming to qualify for the tournament for the fourth time.
