Paul Pogba threatened by armed gang, under police protection

Paul Pogba is under police protection in Italy due to threats and blackmail attempts from a gang of criminals, according to French outlet Le Parisien.

The newspaper reported last night that the Juventus midfielder is being protected in Turin, where he lives following his return to the Serie A club from Manchester United in the summer.

The report claimed that a member of his entourage confirmed the news.

Pogba, 29, was a victim of violent extortion attempts and has taken legal action against an organised gang.

His brother Mathias is under investigation for his part in Paul’s extortion and is now in police custody in France.

Mathias, one of the three football playing Pogba brothers, had released an Instagram video two weeks ago, where he said he would make ‘explosive revelations’ about his younger sibling.

Paul Pogba allegedly told French officers that he had received threats from an organised gang that were demanding €13 million.

Pogba said he was dragged into an apartment where he was accused of not having helped his friends financially since he became a wealthy football star.

He was reportedly threatened with rifles and followed by gang members at Juventus’ training ground once he completed his return to Turin.

Pogba was even accused of consulting with a marabout (spiritualist) to place a curse on his France international teammate Kylian Mbappe, an accusation he vehemently denies.

The former Manchester United star is currently injured and is in a race to be fit for the Qatar 2022 World Cup in November and December after undergoing surgery.
