Tariq Lamptey is confident Ghana will give Brazil a tough time in their friendly on Friday in France.
The 21-year-old Brighton defender is one of several players who recently switched allegiance to Ghana after having played for other countries’ youth national teams.
Lamptey, who was born in England and played at youth level for the Three Lions, is expected to make his Black Stars debut on Friday in the World Cup friendly against the star-studded Brazil team.
The former Chelsea youngster told the Ghana Football Association media team in an interview published today that he has been given a warm welcome by his new international teammates and is eager to battle the South American giants.
“Everyone has been fantastic, everyone has been welcoming. It’s been so good. I’m very proud to be here and I’m really just trying to train hard to give the best I can for the team,” Lamptey noted.
“I’m looking forward to the game on Friday. In this game, we are preparing very well and we all want to be ready for Friday.”
Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams, who was born in Spain, is also in line to make his debut for the Black Stars, who eliminated Nigeria’s Super Eagles to qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
After facing the five-time world champions, Ghana play another friendly against Nicaragua in Spain in preparation for the Mundial, where they are drawn against Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay in Group H.
