Mixed fortunes for five Eagles stars as Leicester beat Forest, Udinese win

There were three Super Eagles players in action and another one on the bench tonight as Leicester City sealed their first Premier League victory with a 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the King Power Stadium.

Wilfred Ndidi and Taiwo Awoniyi started for Leicester City and Nottingham Forest respectively, while Emmanuel Dennis was a second-half substitute for the visitors.

Kelechi Iheanacho was an unused substitute for Leicester City and Dennis replaced Awoniyi after 62 minutes.

Worryingly, Ndidi, who has been struggling with injuries in the past few few months and withdrew from Nigeria’s friendly with Algeria last week, played only the first half.

Leicester City’s goals were scored by James Maddison, who had a brace, Harvey Barnes and Patson Saka as the pressure on manager Brendan Rodgers eased off a little.

In Italy, Nigerian forward Isaac Success started and played 58 minutes for Udinese as they secured their sixth straight Serie A victory by coming from behind to beat Verona 2-1.

Incidentally, the player that replaced Success, Beto, scored Udinese’s equaliser 12 minutes after coming on, before Jaka Bijol struck the winner in added time.

Udinese climbed up to third, just one point behind Napoli and Atalanta.
