VICTOR Osimhen took his Serie A scoring streak to eight straight games tonight, netting in Napoli’s 2-0 victory over Empoli.
The Nigeria international struck to make sure of the points for the Serie A leaders after Ardian Ismajli’s own goal had given them an early advantage.
Ismajli scored into his own net in the 17th minute and Osimhen made it 2-0 eleven minutes later, pouncing on the rebound after Kvicha Kvaratskhelia’s initial shot was saved.
The Super Eagles striker has now scored 19 goals in 20 Serie A appearances, and 21 goals in 25 matches in all competitions.
The win took Napoli’s points tally for the season to 65 from 24 matches, a staggering 18 clear of second-placed Inter Milan, who have played one game fewer.
Osimhen is well clear at the top of the Serie A scoring charts, with Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez on 13 goals and Atalanta’s Nigeria international Ademola Lookman on 12.
The 24-year-old has enhanced his reputation as one of Europe’s hottest strikers this season, and has attracted suitors from across the continent, with Napoli valuing him at around €120 million.
