Iwobi’s Everton hold Chelsea as Man City thrash Burnley in FA Cup

EVERTON scored a late equaliser to hold Chelsea to a 2-2 draw in their Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge tonight.

The result ended Chelsea’s winning streak at three games and leaves Graham Potter’s side stuck in 10th spot in the table.

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi was on from the start as usual for Everton and put in a decent 90-minute shift as they earned a crucial point in their bid to beat the drop.

After a goalless but competitive first half, Felix opened the scoring for Chelsea seven minutes into the second half, firing past Jordan Pickford for his first goal at Stamford Bridge.

Everton drew level in the 69th minute through Abdoulaye Doucoure but Chelsea restored their lead with a Kai Havertz penalty seven minutes later.

Substitute Ellis Simms snatched a point for Everton with an 89th minute strike to lift Everton to 15th in the table, two points above the drop zone.

In the FA Cup quarter-final clash that was played at the same time as the Premier League match, Manchester City dismantled Burnley 6-0, with Erling Haaland netting a hat-trick.

Julian Alvarez scored twice and Cole Palmer added the other goal as City punished the Championship leaders, who are coached by City’s former captain Vincent Kompany.
