BUKAYO Saka and Harry Kane are two of the biggest names missing from the English Premier League’s Team of the Season for the 2022/2023 campaign.
The league’s best XI was officially confirmed today, hours after the team did the rounds on social media.
Saka, the England international forward born to Nigerian parents, and England captain Kane have been in impressive form this season, and many expected them to be included in the selection.
The 21-year-old Saka has registered 13 goals and 11 assists for Arsenal this season as they have mounted their first serious title challenge in years, while 29-year-old Kane has produced 25 goals and three assists for Tottenham Hotspur as they seek to qualify for Europe.
Saka has his club colleagues in the Team of the Season though, with Arsenal represented by goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, defenders William Saliba and Oleksandr Zinchenko, as well as midfielder Martin Odegaard.
Arsenal’s four players in the team are the most for one club, with Manchester City following with three in defender Ruben Dias, midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and striker Erling Haaland, who has broken the Premier League’s single season scoring record with 35 goals.
Manchester United have two players in the team in midfielder Casemiro and forward Marcus Rashford, while Newcastle United and Liverpool have one player each in Kieran Trippier and Mohamed Salah respectively.
