LUCIANO Spalletti has all but confirmed he will be quitting Napoli after leading the club to their first Serie A title in 33 years.

The Italian coach, under whose guidance Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has become a world-class striker, has run down his Napoli contract and has suggested he is not signing a new one.

“If you are not convinced that you can give everything these people deserve, it’s right to think it over and a decision has been made,” Spalletti said last night after Napoli’s 3-1 victory over Inter Milan.

The manager and Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis appear to have a complex relationship and there has been no breakthrough in negotiations for a new contract.

“The matter has been decided, you don’t change your mind every day,” Spalletti said when asked about a new Napoli contract.

“It is a situation that has been brewing for a long time. When you work from morning to night, some matters tend to mature in your mind, because you have to put this spectacle on all the time.

“If you are not convinced that you can give everything these people deserve, it’s right to think it over. You think it over, you arrive at a conclusion and then you stick with it.

“This is not something that just fell from the sky out of nowhere.”

According to Football Italia, Spalletti has lived in the Napoli training ground for the last two years, not taking a house in the city of Naples and leaving his wife and family back home in Tuscany.

Under Spalletti, Osimhen has had the most productive campaign of his career, the 24-year-old Nigerian scoring 28 goals in 37 appearances across all competitions to lead Napoli to the Scudetto.
