VICTOR Osimhen rounded off the Serie A season tonight with yet another goal as champions Napoli defeated Sampdoria 2-0 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

The Super Eagles striker’s goal was his 26th in Serie A this season, making him the top scorer in the Italian top flight.

The 24-year-old Nigeria international, who won the Striker of the Season award, has thus made history as the first African player ever to become the highest goal scorer in Serie A.

Osimhen struck from the penalty spot in the 64th minute and Giovanni Simeone netted five minutes from time to take Napoli’s final tally for their triumphant campaign to 90 points.

The Super Eagles striker and his teammates lifted the Scudetto, Napoli’s first in 33 years, after the match, with the players celebrating with their families.

Osimhen was with his little daughter who wore a cute version of the iconic mask he has worn throughout the campaign to protect his face after surgery.

In Belgium, Nigerian midfielder Alhassan Yusuf made a substitute appearance as Royal Antwerp held Genk to a 2-2 draw to win the Jupiler Pro League title.

Royal Antwerp edged Genk to the title by just one point after Toby Alderweireld’s goal in stoppage time earned them the crucial draw.

Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare scored the opening goal for Genk in the 45th minute and they were on course for the title until the equaliser four minutes into second-half added time.

Another Nigerian striker, Yira Sor, was a late substitute for Genk who finished second and secured a ticket to the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds.
