PAUL Onuachu will soon be off to Turkey to join Trabzonspor from Southampton, according to reports.
The Nigeria international has struggled to fit in at the Saints since his €18 million switch from Genk in January and has been looking for a way out all summer.
Turkish outlet 61Saat has claimed that top flight side Trabzonspor have now ‘reached an agreement’ to sign the 29-year-old Super Eagles star.
Southampton owners, investment firm Sport Republic, reportedly had an influence in the deal.
Sports Republic also own Goztepe, and Trabzonspor are set to send a player to the second-tier Turkish club to sweeten the Onuachu deal, according to the report.
Onuachu thrived in Belgium with Genk, scoring 85 goals in 134 appearances, but his fortunes have been markedly different at Southampton, who were relegated from the Premier League last season.
The towering striker has failed to register a single goal or assist in his 12 appearances for the Saints, including one game this season.
If the move to Trabzonspor is successful, Onuachu will be joining the club of his former Super Eagles teammate Ogenyi Onazi, who was at the club from 2016 to 2019.
