Osimhen threatens ‘legal action’ against Napoli over mocking TikTok video

VICTOR Osimhen could sue Napoli after the club mocked their star striker in a video posted on their official TikTok account.

The Nigeria international has endured some frustration in front of goal this season, failing to score in his last three matches and missing a penalty in the 0-0 draw against Bologna over the weekend.

It is that missed penalty that Napoli’s TikTok, a video-sharing social media app, used to mock the Super Eagles striker, who scored 26 goals last season to lead the club to their first Serie A title in 33 years.

The video is of Osimhen appealing for the penalty, using a child-like automated voice, and demanding to take it before he is shown shooting it off target.

Osimhen’s agent Roberto Calenda said tonight that his client had the right to take legal action against Napoli for the video, which has now been taken down after causing much outrage.

“What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable. A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted,” Calenda said in a statement he issued tonight on social media.

“A serious fact that causes very serious damage to the player and adds to the treatment that the boy is suffering in the last period between media trials and fake news.

“We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor.”

Osimhen was already under fire for confronting manager Rudi Garcia after he was taken off during the Bologna draw, and he had to apologise to the coach and his teammates.
