THE Ondo State House Assembly has refuted “some distorted news story” that it has suspended the impeachment of the state’s Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The House stated that it will pursue the impeachment to its natural conclusion to assess the veracity or otherwise of the “monumental allegations of gross misconduct against the Deputy Governor.”
The Ondo Assembly stated in a statement signed by its lawyer, Femi Emodamori, today that it had followed the constitutionally mandated impeachment procedures to the point where the Chief Judge was required to form a 7-member panel to investigate the allegations leveled against the Deputy Governor.
The Chief Judge responded, stating that he received an ex parte order from the Abuja Judicial Division of the Federal High Court on September 26th, 2023, ‘restraining’ his lordship from establishing the Panel, pending when the Court would hear all the parties in the case to determine the merits of the application or case filed by the Deputy-Governor.
The House further stated that it is taking immediate legal action to vacate or quash the order and/or the entire suit before the Federal High Court in order to free the Chief Judge’s hands and bring the impeachment to a logical conclusion.
