Anthony Joshua will knock Tyson Fury out — Promoter Eddie Hearn

ANTHONY Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn is confident his fighter will easily beat Tyson Fury should the two heavyweight boxers ever meet in the ring.

World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Fury put up a lacklustre performance last week against mixed martial arts star Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia, although the Briton was controversially declared the winner in a split decision.

Cameroonian Ngannou, who was making his professional boxing debut at the age of 37, knocked Fury down and the majority of fans thought the former UFC fighter was robbed by the judges.

The performance of Fury, 35, has given Hearn the confidence that 34-year-old Joshua will emerge as the clear winner if the two face each other.

“I’m telling you and I say it with a big chest and all my heart and now all my brain, Anthony Joshua beats Tyson Fury everyday of the week, he knocks him spark out,” Hearn told IFL TV.

“And you can go around and say he’s frozen out, he’s a dosser, I’m a dosser, whatever.

“We saw on Saturday night, we know the weaknesses, there [points at head] and there [points at chin] aren’t what they used to be.

“Make the fight, AJ against Fury… You have to make the AJ fight, you cannot retire without fighting Anthony Joshua.

“But, he’ll do the job for you because he’ll put you into retirement, I promise you that.”

Nigerian-Briton Joshua is keen for a big fight after losing his World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Organisation belts to Oleksandr Usyk last year.

Incidentally, Ukrainian Usyk and Fury are due to meet next before a bout with Joshua can be arranged.

Fury is contractually obliged to fight Usyk with the pair having already signed to fight.

The expected date was either this December or January 2024, but that may have been delayed due to Fury sustaining some unexpected damage against Ngannou.
