ODION Ighalo was the hero for Al Wehda last night in their Saudi Arabia Pro League clash, while Chidera Ejuke also struck for Royal Antwerp in the Belgian Pro League.
Former Super Eagles striker Ighalo had endured a seven-match goal drought before last night’s home clash against Al Khaleej, but he regained his scoring touch in a spectacular way.
The 34-year-old netted in the third, 58th and 80th minutes, the last one from the penalty spot, to give Al Wehda a 3-1 victory, only their second win in their last seven games
Ighalo has now scored eight goals in 12 Saudi Arabia Pro League appearances since joining Al Wehda as a free agent this season.
The former Manchester United and Watford striker is Al Wehda’s top scorer, his goals taking them to ninth in the standings.
Meanwhile, in Belgium, Super Eagles forward Ejuke scored his first-ever goal for Royal Antwerp as they held St Truiden to a 1-1 draw on Friday night.
Ejuke came off the bench at the start of the second half and netted Royal Antwerp’s equaliser nine minutes from time to finally get on the score sheet after nine appearances for the club he joined on loan from CSKA Moscow in the summer.
The 25-year-old Ejuke has eight Nigeria caps but his last appearance was in January 2022 during the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
