KELECHI Iheanacho is one of the Leicester City players who could return to action as the Foxes face Wayne Rooney’s Birmingham City on Monday night.

Super Eagles forward Iheanacho and veteran English striker Jamie Vardy were the major absentees when Leicester City defeated Millwall 3-2 on Wednesday night.

While Vardy has been ruled out of the trip to Birmingham, Iheanacho, Marc Albrighton and others with minor knocks are in contention.

The Foxes are currently top of the English Championship table with 17 wins from their 21 matches so far, and they face a busy Christmas schedule with fixtures against Rotherham United, Ipswich Town and Cardiff City, the last two away.

Speaking after the win over Millwall at the King Power Stadium, Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca confirmed that Vardy will miss the trip to Birmingham, and that Albrighton is being assessed, while also suggesting Iheanacho, Yunus Akgün and Harry Souttar could be back after fitness tests.

“Jamie’s [injury] was in training,” Maresca explained. “Unfortunately, for Monday, it’s impossible, but we’ll see. The good thing, for the next game, is that we have four days. In this moment, it’s something very strange.

“We played Wednesday and we’re going to play on Monday. Fortunately, having four days, they will have time to recover for Monday.”

Iheanacho, 27, also missed the 4-0 win over Plymouth last weekend. He has registered five goals and one assist in 18 Championship appearances this season, eight of them as a substitute.
