Berlinale showcases key design for 2024 edition
ORGANISERS of the annual Berlin International Film Festival otherwise called Berlinale have commenced showcasing key design such as the Berlinale poster. The organizers hope that the Berlinale poster will build anticipation for the 74th Berlin International Film Festival, taking place from February 15 to 25, 2024. “The attentive, open and approachable bear stands as a symbol for the intended focus of the 74th Berlinale: the festival as an open place for our audience and the film industry, which have both remained equally loyal to us over all the years and have made the Berlinale what it is – a place for encounters and exchange. I am delighted that we have been able to capture that spirit so well with this year’s motif,” comments Mariëtte Rissenbeek, Executive Director of the Berlinale who hinted that the key visual was again designed by Berlin-based graphic artist Claudia Schramke. Meanwhile, the first film titles for Berlinale Special have been announced. Seven productions, including one series, have so far been invited to the 2024 Berlinale Special. The complete programme with around 20 titles will be finalized in mid-January. “It is with special pleasure and pride that we welcome back directors who have presented their work at the festival in the past. Berlinale Special will be home for new films by Julia von Heinz (Treasure) and Tilman Singer (Cuckoo), both with projects involving American stars, for the irreverent comedy by the Zellner brothers (Sasquatch Sunset) and the dark universe of the first series by the D’Innocenzo brothers (Dostoevsky), and for the latest from masters Atom Egoyan (Seven Veils) and Tsai Ming-liang (Abiding Nowhere). We are happy to celebrate these films along with the great performances of Amanda Seyfried, Lena Dunham and Stephen Fry, Riley Keough and Jesse Eisenberg, Hunter Schafer and Dan Stevens. And we are especially looking forward to welcoming back Carey Mulligan to Berlin, and, for the first time, Adam Sandler, representing Johan Renck’s Spaceman,” says Artistic Director, Carlo Chatrian
