THE Flamingos of Nigeria have advanced to the next round of the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying series after routing Central African Republic (CAR) 12-0 on aggregate.

Having won the first leg 6-0 in Douala, Cameroon last weekend, the Flamingos repeated the scoreline today in the reverse fixture at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja to cruise through.

Harmony Chidi, who scored a brace in the first leg, bagged a hat-trick today, taking her tally in the tie to five goals.

Ramota Kareem scored two and Tessy Ojiyovwi netted the other goal.

The Flamingos were off to a ruthless start, taking a 2-0 lead within the first 14 minutes through Chidi.

Ojiyovwi struck in the 36th minute as the Nigerian girls took a 3-0 lead into half-time.

The Flamingos eased off on the scoring a bit in the second half, waiting until the final five minutes of regulation time and the start of added time to add two more goals.

Kareem scored the fourth goal 10 minutes after the break and made it 5-0 in the 85th minute, as Chidi completed her hat-trick in stoppage time.

The Flamingos are through to the third round of the African qualifiers and await their next opponents as they seek to earn a ticket to the tournament billed for the Dominican Republic in October and November.
