TEAM Nigeria will be represented by 358 athletes in 25 sporting disciplines at the 13th African Games, according to the Nigeria Olympic Committee.
The quadrennial African Games, formerly known as All Africa Games, will be held in Accra, Ghana from March 8 to March 23.
“Nigeria is competing in 25 sports at the event. Nigerian athletes were accredited at the Delegation Registration Meeting conducted on March 4,” NOC Public Relations Officer Tony Nezianya said today.
Taekwondo, wrestling and karate have 14 representatives each in Team Nigeria, while arm wrestling has 15 athletes.
The U-20 football teams for men and women, the Flying Eagles and Falconets, have 20 players each, while weightlifting and badminton both have 12-member teams.
Boxing has 11 fighters, Judo 10, while scrabble and tennis have eight members each.
The athletics delegation, including relay teams, is the largest with 50, while swimming, chess, triathlon and beach volleyball have four representatives each.
