BARCELONA defender Joao Cancelo has confirmed that the side will be paying special attention to Victor Osimhen during tonight’s UEFA Champions League clash against Napoli in Spain.
The two sides played a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their round of 16 UCL tie three weeks ago, with Super Eagles of Nigeria striker scoring Napoli’s equaliser at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in Naples.
Tonight’s encounter at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Barcelona will decide the side to go through to the quarter-finals, and Portugal full-back Cancelo is well aware of what Osimhen and his supporting cast in the Napoli attack and midfield are capable of doing.
“They are exceptional talents. Osimhen scored with half the ball in the first leg; he is one of the best strikers in the world,” Cancelo told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“But there is more: I like (Piotr) Zielinski who can’t play because he is not on the list, and (Stanislav) Lobotka, I faced him with Portugal and he is a great player.”
Osimhen has been in fine form since returning to the Napoli side after helping the Super Eagles to finish as runners-up at the AFCON 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 25-year-old has scored five goals in five games since his return, including a hat-trick in the 6-1 Serie A win over Sassuolo.
Overall this season, Osimhen has registered 13 goals and four assists in 23 appearance across all competitions.
