GHANA’S new head coach Otto Addo has called up some of the country’s best players for the friendly games against the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Cranes of Uganda.
The Blacks Stars will face the Super Eagles in Marrakech, Morocco on March 22 and take on Uganda four days later.
The Super Eagles also have two games in Marrakech, as they play Mali on March 26.
Addo coached Ghana to beat the Super Eagles on the away goals rule to qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup and oversaw the team’s group stage elimination at the Mundial before returning to Borussia Dortmund as talent coach.
The former Ghana international has now been reappointed and he has called up the likes of Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus, Leicester City’s Fatawu Issahaku and Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo.
Bolivia-based David Akologo, Nordsjaellands of Denmark’s Ibrahim Osman, France-based Nathaniel Adjei, and Diomande Mohammed of Rangers of Scotland have also been named in Ghana’s 26-man squad for the friendlies.
Brighton right-back Tariq Lamptey is also back in the squad after recovering from an injury that ruled him out of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire in January and February.
Nigeria and Ghana have an age-long rivalry and their last meetings were in the Qatar 2022 World Cup play-offs when they drew 0-0 in Kumasi and 1-1 in Abuja, with the Black Stars earning the ticket on the away goals rule.
