LAGOS: Goods worth millions destroyed as fire guts Idumota market

AN early morning fire today, torched some businesses in the Nanadi Azikwe and Docemo sections of Lagos State’s Idumota Market, destroying goods worth millions of Naira.

The fire destroyed three buildings, including two two-story buildings and one three-story building in the market known for its garments, purses, and shoes.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has responded to a fire at the intersection of Nanadi Azikwe and Docemo in Idumota, Lagos. The call was received at 07:41 am, and emergency services swiftly mobilized.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and other emergency service providers have arrived on the area, and firefighting operations have begun.

“The Fire stations at Ebute Elefun, Ilupeju and Alausa have deployed resources to mitigate the situation effectively as firefighting operations is ongoing,” said Fire Service boss, Margaret Adeseye.

“The cause of the Fire is yet to be determined, and investigations are ongoing. Casualties have not been confirmed at this time.”

Adeseye urged residents to cooperate with emergency personnel and avoid the area for their safety.
