Barcelona fined over racist behaviour by fans in UCL clash vs PSG

BARCELONA have been fined by UEFA for racist behaviour and other offences by their fans in their Champions League quarter-final first leg at Paris St-Germain last week.

In addition to the racism, the European football governing body also charged the Spanish club over their supporters lighting fireworks and causing damage at the Parc des Princes in Paris on Wednesday last week.

Barcelona will have to pay a fine of €32,000 for the charges.

The Spaniards won 3-2 in Paris but lost Tuesday night’s second leg 4-1 at home in Barcelona to crash out of the Champions League.

Barcelona have also been banned from selling away tickets to their supporters for their next match in a UEFA competition as punishment for the racist behaviour, although the ban is suspended for a probationary period of one year.

In addition, UEFA ruled that Barcelona must make contact with PSG within 30 days to settle the damage caused by supporters in the stadium.

PSG will face Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals after the German club knocked out another Spanish side Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals on Tuesday night.
