BORUSSIA Dortmund defeated Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in France tonight to advance to the UEFA Champions League final.

The German side won the tie 2-0 on aggregate having also claimed a 1-0 victory in the first leg in Dortmund last Wednesday.

This is 1997 winners Borussia Dortmund’s first final in the competition since they lost 2-1 to Bayern Munich in 2013.

Mats Hummels scored the only goal of tonight’s encounter, the German centre-back heading home from a corner kick five minutes into the second half.

PSG were not able to create any real chances in a first half in which the visitors defended superbly but the hosts were unlucky not to score after the break.

Nuno Mendes, Vitinha and Kylian Mbappe, who was not up to his usual high standards over the two legs, all hit the woodwork as PSG piled on the pressure.

The French champions also felt they deserved a penalty when Ousmane Dembele was brought down but the referee and Video Assistant Referee ruled that the foul was just outside the box.

Portugal striker Goncalo Ramos also had two big opportunities to get PSG on the scoresheet but he fluffed both from inside the Dortmund box.

Dortmund will face either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in this season’s final on June 1 at Wembley in London, incidentally the venue of the 2013 final.
